Vampire Player Characters

Contract agreement for how Vampires as Player Characters shall be handled within the Amia PW world setting:

NOTE: As any special undead character, Vampires require a request for approval to play.

Vampire PCs are considered an Amia-custom Greater Vampire. The major difference between these and lesser (normal) vampires is that the creature may exist safely in daylight unlike the lesser version. They will have the Light Sensitivity mechanic applied to them and they must roleplay weakness to the sun. Further, due to the custom rituals required to become a Greater Vampire, Raise Dead and Resurrection will IC'ly function to return the creature to life as a Greater Vampire. These spells will not automatically "cure" the Amia Greater Vampire with any combination of rituals or procedures unless explicitly overseen by a DM and agreed upon by all parties.

Standard permadeath warnings that any player faces for egregious behavior against others will apply. For example, constantly attacking the same city and being struck down/staked by them to the point that continued aggression is just a nuisance to RP can lead to DM-enforced permadeath/curing. (This applies to any player and is not vampire-specific, but bears mentioning here. Vampire PCs on Amia cannot just constantly grief other players or NPCs and expect to never have consequences, just as any other character.)

Vampires of Amia will not be killed by garlic, but still shall be repelled and/or annoyed by it. It will not be a quirk that is ignored.

Vampires of Amia will be held to the requirement of gaining permission to enter owned structures that are not open to the public.

Vampires of Amia will be held to actively avoiding Holy symbols, Temples, and Grounds. Hallowed sites do not kill or prevent undead from entering, only being created there, the Undead is not at ease on these ground, which should result in the areas being avoided. If within one of these areas, your experience should be reflected as being extremely uncomfortable.

Vampires of Amia will follow the text found in Libris Mortis, Pages 20 and 21 detailing Wooden Stake use. Vampires will be dead upon staking. Note: Permanently killing and/or curing an Amia Greater Vampire PC is more convoluted than a regular vampire and any such attempts always require DM oversight. If a vampire PC is staked as outlined below, regular PvP rules apply and all parties must not interact again for 24 real life hours. The vampire's player is free to assume that the stake was removed unless otherwise agreed between both parties.

Libris Mortis, Wooden Stakes PG 20,21Wooden Stakes: Only vampires and vampire spawn are vulnerable to staking. Driving a wooden stake through a vampire’s heart instantly slays the monster. However, those looking to exploit a vampire’s vulnerability would do well to remember that staking a vampire is only half the task, and if the body is not dealt with, the vampire could return to shadow their steps at a later date. A staked vampire will quickly return to life if the stake is removed before the body has been destroyed properly (such as by removing the creature’s head and filling its mouth with holy wafers). If a vampire is staked, but the body is left to rot away on its own, the danger remains. Eventually, a lone stake might be all that remains visible, driven into the earth, the dust of the slain vampire long since blown away. However, if the stake is removed, that dust reconstitutes, and the vampire returns to animation.

Vampires of Amia cannot physically cross running water that is deep enough for them to be fully submerged in a prone or lying down profile. This applies to nearly all water on Amia unless a DM rules it is shallow enough for sake of plot or event. Vampires can cross bodies of water via ships only with a coffin. Bridges may be crossed with the understanding that the Vampire is extremely uncomfortable with doing so, as a single slip, trip, or fall shall mean their death.

Vampires of Amia may also be brought back to life via the normal means with the burning of an Animate Dead, Create Undead, or Create Greater Undead spell in additional cost to OOC'ly burning a Raise Dead or Resurrection spell/scroll.

Vampires of Amia will not be given Immunity to Sneak Attacks or Critical Hits.

Vampires of Amia can be eligible to Request and Purchase via dream coins a Wolf Shape, Rat Shape, Bat Shape, and Mist Shape.

Vampires of Amia are not required to daily feed, but the RP is highly appreciated.

Vampires of Amia may not turn other PCs into Vampire Spawn or Lesser Vampires unless through another player's approved request and with DM oversight.

Vampires of Amia do not cast a shadow or have a reflection, but their gear/clothing can for the sake of WYSIWYG and making more sense with established Shadow Lore

Vampires of Amia will treat 18:00-06:00 as night time for the purposes of Light Sensitivity and to roleplay a weakness to the sun.

If approved, Vampires of Amia will be mechanically forced to be affected by "vs Undead" spells and abilities, such a Smites, Sun Burst, Searing Light, Undeath to Death, Undeaths Eternal Foe, Turn Undead, Heal/Mass Heal, Lay on Hands, etc., by virtue of having their race changed to Undead. This also gives them the ability to be healed by Harms, and immunity to various death magics such as Pale Master touch attacks, Finger of death, and Wail of the Banshee. They will still be effected by Mind-affecting spells.
