Unfortunately, due to the sheer amount of misinformation, half-truths, and genuinely hateful commentary from a very vocal group of players, the team has decided to stray from standard policy regarding the banning of an individual of the community. Recently, we banned an individual that has been a longstanding member of the community since 2014, and has had numerous problems with the DM teams over the years. This player is PassionateShadow or commonly known as PS.
This player is responsible for baseless accusations of mistreatment, general rumor mongering, mistreatment of a number of other players. However perhaps the most pernicious behavior of all, was the victimhood this individual portrayed. The current team has tried working with this individual very hard to try and help them see that we are not out to get them. This individual was given multiple chances to better their behavior. They were told explicitly after their previous permaban was repealed that continued behavior of this nature would net them another ban with no second chances. They were given more chances, and opportunities to improve than any one individual in server history and they did not.
This team was even extremely lenient with the punishment we administered just after the EE transfer for the largest case of gold duplication this server has ever seen, recorded at 1.6 billion gold. We made the decision against a permanent ban, but a temporary one because of how the player admitted fault then helped us remove every ounce of exploited gold and items they made. We had one condition though, and that was that if they ever did a bannable offense again it would be their last and final chance.
Unfortunately, this leniency was met with continued lies, and vitriol spread unfairly about a number of staff. It's been an incredibly disheartening experience to watch their crusade against Jes, one of the best Developers and people I have ever had the pleasure of working alongside slandered because of someone’s unhealthy jealousy. Collected screenshots have shown this player personally insulting, belittling and treating other players the same way they were once treated by others in the past. They are responsible for Xantham, one of our most active and best DMs, to personally pull away from offering their faction support. Instead of speaking to Xantham they attacked him for doing a spur of the moment event that introduced some conflict that they were uncomfortable with and it didn’t fit their idea of being “fluffy '' enough. Furthermore, they have on a number of occasions rage quit the game when things don't line up perfectly with their desires, with them first refusing to talk, or sort the issue out OOCly before just disappearing from the game. They then will spread rumors, insults, and falsehoods about the other player who was in most cases attempting to resolve the issue.
This player has been given more second chances than many others, and the permanent ban was done reluctantly after continued toxic behavior. We do not like sharing details about these sorts of situations, and only will do so in particularly egregious circumstances. The amount of falsehoods being spread around about this situation is truly disappointing to see and has caused us to make this statement. We want to assure the rest of the player base that we care deeply about everyone’s safety and do not reveal anyone’s identity to the accused. Furthermore, if you do get banned we never make it public unless we are put in a situation like this where the player and their “friends” feel the need to use the fact we don’t normally make statements against us to divide and spread hostility onto the server.
