[Feb 2024] The Missing Maiden

Post by Jes »

In the early hours of the morning, a grand Cormyrian ship pulls into the harbor of Southport. There is a measure of interest and excitement among the citizens as they mill about near the docks, hoping to catch sight of the visitors. Such a grand ship is not so often seen in the harbor, and speculative whispers make their way through the busy districts. Guards and Helmites work closely together to guide and oversee the numerous guests who disembark. Among them is a tall and strong man in his fifties, with greying black hair and bright hazel eyes. He stands out among the others due to his exquisite regalia. It is clear to all who see him that he is a wealthy guest. The man is quite handsome, although he does not seem to notice the many looks he receives from various unmarried women (and some who do not fit that description).

It soon becomes known by his attendants that this man is Lord Aricander Galathil, Marquess of Aubrille d'Suzail. He and his entourage make their way through Southport, visiting the government office to register a diplomatic visit. They then move on to Traveller's Rest, where it seems Lord Aricander takes up residence in one of the rental rooms. Apparently not seeking a surplus of luxuries with his accommodations, his room nonetheless remains under guard.

The Marquess does not make frequent appearances outside of his room, but he has a steady stream of runners who go all about the isle and abroad - wherever shipping lanes take them - to spread word of an urgent matter. The notices find themselves in all prominent trade houses and guilds on Amia, Ruathym, Barak Runedar, and Obsidian Isle.

Urgent NoticesTo the people of the region of Amia and its surrounding environs,

Lord Aricander Galathil, Marquess of Aubrille d'Suzail, has come to Amia in efforts to begin diplomatic conversations with local political entities. However the voyage across the sea was marked with tragedy. His young daughter of sixteen, the Lady Aurellia Galathil, inexplicably went missing two days out from Southport. All hands scoured every inch of the galleon to no avail, leaving the Lord only to wonder at the mystery of her disappearance whilst out at sea with no other ships near.

The Lady Aurellia has long black hair and brilliant green eyes. She is of average height and is known to be somewhat sickly. Wherever she has gone, she has departed without the medicine she takes daily to give her strength. It is his Grace's greatest fear that she will succumb to her weakness if she is not located with due haste.

The Marquess is prepared to offer a sizeable reward of gold, jewels, or magical items for anyone who is able to locate and return his daughter to him. Interested parties may reach out to his grace at any of the guilds or trade houses in which these notices are posted. None who seek to assist will be turned away.
