Bag of Felt wrote: Sun Sep 18, 2022 6:33 pm Rats scatter from the sewers of Southport as the explosions in them deafen any nearby citizens that didn't take shelter. Minor injuries occur as the debris flies up from the sewer grates. As the dust, mud and muck (and other things we won't speak of) settles, the lack of vermin is noted.
Finally prying herself from her studies concerning what she has termed the "Negative Energy Disease" from Kohlingen south, Alrune is finally investigating the explosions that took place nearly a ten-day prior in order to find clues.

The Cetha guards had grown accustomed to keeping a watchful eye on the pale woman dressed in silks and adorned in precious metals as she sauntered the streets, but her presence never failed to send a shiver down their spine.

Carefully following the sewer lines from the surface, Alrune prepares and casts Detect Magic with some meager hope she'll be able to determine any magics used during the attack. She also investigates for flammable and explosive oils or gas. Finally she tries to investigate as many entrances to the sewers as she knows, armed with hope that she may find forced entry or possible witnesses as far away as the Lowlands.

Alrune sighs.

This investigation is the least she could do since the Magisterium had gotten involved. Besides, her room at The Wave would be quieter without all of the panic and chaos.

The body?.....Pile of flesh? Of what could maybe be a road warden? Perhaps a pig with a road warden badge? Perhaps an animal that ate a road warden badge and then completly turned inside out afterwards making all its inside go to the outside......anyways, the public gers the picture. The fleshpuddle was found on the sandy beach cliffs. No witnesses have come forth but authorities are looking for leads or any information on missing persons, or persons missing badges. Or persons missing animals that have a history of eating badges....

The next morning it was confirmed that the fleshpuddle was indeed a road warden. It's still unsure as to which road warden. But it's for sure a road warden. Authorities are reaching out to the wardens to get the list of on duty members for the day of the incident.

Information or witnesses are still being asked to come forward in the attack / murder / bodily desecration of Warden Feynolt. His wife pleads for justice, his 7 children cry for justice, his 28 dogs have no clue what's going on but continue to bark at the neighbors.

Rumbles begin to sound from within the hold of Barak Runedar. An unusual amount of activity comes from the Queen's quarters; guards are posted and active, and there's a rare show of traffic throughout the halls to each of the merchants.

Deep within the caves, something stirs. And messengers are dispatched.

Around the isles, letters are delivered to leaders, or those of high standing.

Rumors would begin to spread and gossip would begin thrive as many of the common folk begin to talk.
"Did you hear the Queen Zellani admitted herself to be a Harper?"
"I heard thats how she became a queen, no secret she has billions. Likely paid off nobles to gain the seat of power."
"Whos Zellani?"
"I hope she doesn't set her sights on Cetha..."
It would seem that the rumors started in the Green Garden as they were passed by word of mouth bits of them are changed for better or worse to and within Cetha. One thing is for sure a concerning topic has reached common folks as they discuss what this may mean and how it could impact their lives.

Around the isle of Amia, travelers and residents experience some minor seismic activity centered around the Skull Peaks. The ground rumbles occasionally, with some gentle swaying felt as far as The Dale. Smoke can sometimes be seen trailing up from the peaks. Nothing particularly noteworthy, but citizens certainly do talk about it. The Skull Peaks' volcano has erupted before. Will it do so again so soon after the last? Are the tremors a sign of a larger earthquake to come?

People in Ridgewood are especially tense. But they have had to deal with this before. They begin to take the appropriate steps to plan for the worst - just in case. Some brave the cart routes and decide to take a small winter vacation in Southport.

Amia island experienced an earthquake tonight. Not anything strong enough to knock over valuables, but enough to startle people caught unawares. Workers in various settlements stumbled and dropped their hammers. A man in Cetha lost his footing and fell down a ladder in his surprise. He luckily only sprained his wrist. There were no other apparent injuries involved. Up in the Skull Peaks, the mountain grumbled and growled, spitting fire and lava into the air like a fat fire lizard that had been kicked. The fiery balls of debris fell around the peak and Ridgewood, catching some homes on fire. Response was rapid, though, and the damage was mitigated quickly with some extra help from a few adventurers.

Ash fell from the sky for only a couple hours after the small eruption. They say that some adventurers went to go investigate to make sure no one disturbed the volcano to cause it to erupt, but they only found that they themselves were disrupting it! Or maybe they just found nothing. Word spreads however that tunnels might have collapsed from the earthquake that came before the eruption. Tunnels deep underground could have been more affected than what they saw on the surface, it is said! But who knows, really? Other than the usual beasties that crawl around in said tunnels.

At some point in the night before the sun rise a group of orcs on patrol near Sandy Beach are slaughtered and shredded. None of their belongings are taken only parts of the orcs remain scattered about the ground and in nearby trees. None of the regular patrols saw what had happened.

three decent sized Caravel are seen off port in Wiltun. Adorned with Massive skulls of sea monsters and natural coverings for camouflage. The sounds of drums can be heard from the lead ship. The wiltun navy stands at ready to sink the ships but have great hesitation as each one Flys a shiny new wiltun flag

Rumor has it that a fabulously wealthy noble woman is moving into the Triumvir and intends to sponsor minstrels and theatrical troupes. A beautiful young woman named Charise constantly chats up the locals, persistently excited about the pending move. Apparently they're hiring for numerous household positions, and some around the Triumvir are quick to apply, eager for a taste of that sweet, sweet filthy-rich-employer-salary!

Word spreads like wildfire across the isle of sightings of a ship that keeps appearing on the horizons of various islands around Amia. Some say they have seen a black flag atop the mast, others talk of trade ships bound for Cetha, Greengarden and Cystana are being stopped and looted. Some mention a creepy, weeping woman as the figurehead. There was no doubt. There was a new group of pirates lurking the waves, and they have already began stirring mischief in the area.

Rumors spread across the island about missing items in the local settlements of Frontier's Rest, Kampo's Trading Post, Ridgewood and The Grove, however nothing too massive or large in value was taken, just small trinkets and tools alike, many of the guards have not been able to find or catch the thieves of these thefts, however they have found evidence of medium to large size puddles of water at the scene of each crime scene. One eyewitness reports that the thieves move slowly, almost sliding across the ground like a snail.

Reports spread from Moonpier, Southport, Ridgewood and Greengarden, families reporting missing children from infants to young teen, boys and girls both seemingly vanished from their bedrooms last night. These reports often come hand in hand with word of a hunched figure moving through the street. Some claim the sound of hooves against ground, others say they saw a being with horns and glowing yellow eyes peering out of the shadow, but they all bare mention to the shepherds crook.

In response to this, Cetha, Moonpier and Greengarden have dispatched envoys to the Wave and Serpent to gather able bodies amongst the adventuring community to help recover the missing children. There is yet to be word of any reward for undertaking the task amidst the complete panic that surrounded the disappearances.

Rumors abound that there are chests to be found. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to where they are. Some are near known dangerous zones, and others could be next to the local shop.

//These chests are level specific. If it isn't your level, please leave it for the proper level. If you have found a chest for your level already, please allow others to find a chest. Only 1 chest per character. Yes, that means if you have several characters, you can get several of the boxes. But no meta! If one of your characters finds a box, another of yours can't find that same box.

Word once again fires across the island in rejoice. The names Wilfire, Rosary and Fendall Spellworthy ripple across the taverns and inns, along with mention of an unnamed dwarf as heroes of the people. Having risked life and limb to rescue the children that the winters night had stolen, they emerged with the children safely in tow.

A trade wagon spreads word that they were beset by orcs just outside of The Dale on their way from Southport one night when their departure ran later than expected. A single dark figure appeared and seemed to have saved them... but this unknown individual was shrouded in darkness and extremely brutal in their fighting. Blood spewed everywhere and they swear the figure even tore into some of the orcs' necks. The trade wagon did not wait around to thank this so-called savior. They were much too frightened that the benefactor might turn on them once they had finished. But they were able to hurry past the slaughter to reach The Dale without further incident.

Another wagon was attacked on the way from Ridgewood to Southport. Word has it that the "monsters" were involved, for orcs were caught handling the corpse of the driver when an adventurer answered the call for aid from Southport. Trade wagons and travelers are encouraged to take armed escort on the roads.

Later, news spreads that a Roadwarden was killed near Sandy Beach. Thankfully, he was raised by a mysterious benefactor, and the scholars living there along the road tell that the orc patrols are getting deadly...

Word spreads that there was a great battle in Khem, north of Nes'ek, between a group of adventurers and a massive throng of kobolds. The adventurers had successfully managed to bottleneck the pass to the south through the use of an Earthquake spell (which was super effective - perhaps more so than intended), so the difficulty in stopping the writhing mass of kobolds was not as great as it could have been. They eventually faced off against the leader of the kobold swarm, a kobold dressed in red, breathing fire, and casting a multitude of spells. This kobold was mighty, indeed, and felled some of the adventurers with his spells. But they were able to overpower him in the end! It is said that the adventurers gathered their spoils and returned to Nes'ek as heroes.

And the jackals and other beasts of the desert were left quite the feast.

During the aftermath of the Kobold vs the brand of daring adventures, it seem Khem was to see a peaceful days rest; however, many of the people of Khem have notice odd weather patterns hitting the land, the numerous clashing lights of lighting and the overlapping sounds of thunder vastly approach the city, nothing has been reported afterwards, but the city defenders are keeping an eye out and patrol has been doubled in case, some whispers have spread that maybe something even more vast and evil may have been unleashed onto Amia!

A message is dispatched to Winya from Nicholas Selwyn indicating that it appears to have been an isolated event targeting a particular individual, so they don't expect further attacks. It further explains that thankfully they were able to tend to the wounded and fallen and everyone is okay - except for the person who was taken by the attackers. They appreciate the offer of aid, but can't ask for anything in particular due to the uncertainty surrounding the incident. There are currently search parties and efforts being made to track down their missing resident.

This information also becomes available to anyone who asks around in the Triumvir. The residents are shaken up and scared, and for a while the Triumvir is a more somber place. Many of the residents lament the loss of the Lady Ayan Anaphiel, the popular noblewoman from Waterdeep who has taken to sponsoring many new artistic talents in the Triumvir, and they hope that those who are actively looking for her are able to find her before something even more terrible happens.

In all Cetha settlements, the guard presence is elevated, especially so around the lamp in Frontier's Rest.

The last day or so a hooded figure followed by a black wolf can be seen nearby Darkhold and the surrounding areas, looking for tracks or any signs of undead activity beyond the "normal" in the area. For the way he moves and how he analyzes the surroundings it's clear that this tracker has some special training in finding and fighting undead.

The mountains of Barak Runedar seem to be especially icy and cold these days. Over the past few days, Sui'Aerl has made her way to the different settlements who are part of the Beacon Alliance. She visits each holding an ornate box, spends a few minutes at each beacon site apparently working some kind of magic, and then eventually leaves again - no longer carrying the box she had brought. It surely begins to get out that the beacons are now fully operational, which seems to make the drow warlock quite happy.

Many people are whispering about a blue half-dragon appearing at the Wave and Serpent, always going inside for a few hours and coming out and retuning again before dusk falls, the one trait that many whisper more and talk about is the missing arm of the figure, but nothing else is said.
