*posters all over southport / frontiers*
I was born here, in Cordor! Right over there, under all that water. Under what that creature destroyed. Homes. Families. Futures! These adventurers think our cities, our homes are just their playground, that our lives and livelihoods are just pawns in their obscene climb to glory and fame! All they want is their name on a tavern wall! So they can get drunk and gloat about glory and how amazing they were..... Well all I want, and all I want for you, people of Southport, isn't a name on a wall, but 4 walls and a roof that you can rest easy in. Safe. Without worry or fear of what abomination might come through town, through your living room, because it was chased there by these adventurers.

My name is Coristian Rift. The East is just the beginning.

Cromlech pauses by one of the posters, reads it with a huff, and then later puts her own up next to any she can find.

NoticesGreat. Someone who wants to take steps backward to when adventurers were hated, as if it's adventurers' fault that gods and powerful monsters do bad things that adventurers actively need to stop. I don't understand that sentiment. Why fear monger and instigate hate against people who are genuinely responsible for keeping most of the worst monsters away? They're not chasing anything through the streets. If the monster wants to be there, it'll be there. And it'll be adventurers who rush to your aid - not rushing to help put you down.

Vote for Cromlech, who doesn't want to base a campaign on vitriol and misinformation! You all know me. I'm very direct and up front with my intentions. If there's an actual threat to the stability of Southport, we will address it as a people, without falling into old hatred and schisms.

This is a time for rebuilding and peace! Let's embrace that and make the southern jewel shine brighter than ever before!

A drawing of a grinning copper dragon head is found at the bottom of the notices.

A response left to the notice board I, Beaufort Mornshield, support all applicants who place their focus to enabling the people of Centha to prosper. The focus of ours should be to establish trade and businesses so that people have the opportunity to realize their potential and prosper. As prosperity spreads even more good and stability will be created. I leave you, the reader, with the message that Merchant's Friend supports.
Teaching of Liberty's Maiden"Mercantile trade is the best road to enrichment. Increasing the general prosperity buys even greater civilization and happiness for intelligent folk worldwide, bringing people closer to the golden age that lies ahead. Destroy no trade goods, raise no restrictions to trade, and propagate no malicious rumors that could harm someone's commerce. Challenge and refute unproven rumors that could negatively impact trade when heard. Give money freely to beggars and business, for the more coin everyone has, the greater the urge to spend and trade rather than hoard. To worship Waukeen is to know wealth. To guard your funds is to venerate her, and to share them well seeds your future success. Call on her in trade, and she will guide you in wise commerce. The bold find gold, the careful keep it, and the timid yield it up"

May we find the path to build our community and enable our people to prosper.

Best Regards,
Beaufort Mornshield

The people of Frontier's Rest are seen being especially vigilant around the fields. Pumpkins are summarily executed and scarecrows are forbidden from being put up. Word spreads that, just like last year, there has been at least one scarecrow that came to life and attacked everyone near it.

Re: The Southern Jewel - The Kingdom of Cetha

With the final weeks of winter on the horizon, the results of the seemingly rapid election in Cetha give way to what some may see as a familiar sentiment. It starts out quiet in most areas of Cetha, but the voices of dissent are first noticed by travelers and officials alike in Southport West. Their King, Adam Fairchild, was born and raised in the West. He saw all the ups and downs, all the chaos, all the suffering that the people had gone through. He was one of them.

So why was he sitting in his fancy chair, doing nothing?

They had been attacked multiple times by the so-called "Two-Axe" monsters, and it had reached them that those same monsters were allowed to build a fortress right under their noses. Why hadn't they been stamped out? Why hadn't the people's safety been protected and the losses of those who fell at their hands avenged?

And why should the people put up with yet another man-turned-noble getting fat off the hard work of the people?

As knights and guards throughout Cetha gradually become aware of this sentiment, they do their best to address the concerns calmly, to explain that Cetha is still in a transitional phase. The people are safe and protected within the walls of their cities and the King is assuredly doing his best. Change takes time, and the great number of Helmites among them have been a boon in helping to reinforce Cetha's much, much smaller guard force. With their help, perhaps an answer may come soon to the monsters responsible for harming their people.

It largely seems that the reassurances have worked to calm most of the unsettled citizens, but guards and knights alike remain vigilant to any further whispers. The last thing they want is for history to repeat itself...

Interest buzzes through the streets of Southport and in Frontier's Rest as, while some construction is being completed, a group of twenty knights marches out and heads east past the Festival Grounds and out the easternmost gate, toward Knight's Hallow. Within the two settlements, guard presence increases, as well as Helmite patrols. The people are curious as to what has prompted this, and there is a clear split in public sentiment. Some think that the King must be trying to save face by mobilizing troops around in response to recent criticism, while others think the King is finally responding to the threats beyond the walls. Things remain tense, but the shift toward the completion of long-awaited construction and the sight of troops moving through the streets more actively again is overall a welcome (and distracting) change.

Among them, or rather already before them, the Dame Elaraliel had made her presence known in the area. Watching over it along with her dog and her trusty white steed. She does however seem rather glad about the company when it finally arrives.

Throughout the last few weeks, there have been some incidents throughout Southport, largely focused around construction accidents. It doesn't take long for rumors to spread that the numerous projects have been sabotaged. The King's Cabinet insists that the safety of the people is paramount to their focus, and anyone with information regarding suspicious individuals are encouraged to come forward.

However many guards throughout Southport and Frontier's Rest seem to have little patience for dealing with the many angry citizens who come forth with a variety of stories about unsavory suspects. The guards appear to be inundated with these reports, and as more and more guards seem to be focusing on investigating these incidents, the visiting Helmites are seen moving through the city more often to make up for the lower Cetha guard presence.

Throughout this time, word spreads that there is to be a public meeting of the people in Southport West to talk about the state of their home.

Frontier's Rest experienced a chaotic and devastating attack today. The portals in the portal chamber appeared to have been tampered with, and soon abishai and rakshasa began to teleport into the chamber. Unbeknownst to the many adventurers who had gathered in the portal chamber to defend it, the main floor of the guildhouse was also infiltrated by these creatures. Minister Raine helped to evacuate noncombatants upstairs, locking and barricading them behind the various doors. Thankfully, the response of the guards, knights, and Helmites kept the monsters' attention away from going after the innocents.

There was much destruction. Part of the portal chamber collapsed, but thankfully the foundations seemed to be intact enough that the guild proper was unaffected. Around fifty guards, knights, Helmites, and various other responding personnel were killed and unable to be restored to life, a very costly battle. Afterward, it is clear that the guard presence has been affected by the great loss, but all available hands work to both investigate the incident and enhance security around Frontier's Rest and Southport. Security is especially enhanced in Southport West in preparation for the public meeting of the people, which those who had called for it insist will still happen.

There is a distinct sense of mourning in Cetha as the names of the fallen reach loved ones. A stirring anger...

As many of the high ranking knights, Dame Elaraliel was pulled away the moment the sirens went off and tasked to guard the king. While such was per se an honor, it also filled the paladin with dread once the emergency situation was under controlled and she saw the carnage that happened in the meantime and heard how many of her former comrades had fallen.

A familiar face to some has been seen around Southport again. An old knight of kholingen now turned commercial Smith and tavern patron has donned his historic plate and shield again. With massive axe on his broad shoulders and his head high, he walks the west district awaiting the town meeting.

The meeting of the people started out as expected, with a large gathering of citizens expressing their displeasure with the way of the government of Cetha. They expressed their anger about the way it seems that the leadership doesn't really listen to them, or care about the problems they're having. Attacks have been happening repeatedly, but the people felt that the king and his Cabinet was not doing enough. The crowd became angry and started to get rowdy, on the verge of a riot, but voices from gathered adventurers and local protectors kept them from going over the edge.

After some time, the King left the Cabinet office with a quiet and heavy expression. As he approached the group alongside the knights who escorted him, he started to speak. Just before he could, though, an explosion rocked the nearby Arena. During the distraction in that moment, one of the knight's at Adam's side suddenly plunged his sword into King Adam's chest. Caught off guard due to the proximity of his unexpected assassin, Adam did not stand a chance. The weapon pierced his heart and killed him instantly. The group immediately attacked the knight and felled him, but then scores of attackers started leaping out of the darkness around them - dressed as Helmites. Soon there was much chaos as citizens ran about in terror and Helmites and guards came to assist. It was a mess as both sides of the fight struggled to determine who was friend or foe, and the adventurers quickly jumped in to try to help keep the innocent civilians safe.

The fighting broke out throughout all of Southport and parts of Frontier's Rest. At one point, an alarm sounded as orcs arrived and began to both infiltrate (presumably from the sewers) and attack from the western gates. This added to the chaos of the sudden invasion of enemies into the heart of Southport, and it seemed like the fighting continued for hours. When finally the dust settled, it seemed that damage to the structures of the city itself had been minimal in the mostly melee combat that had ensued, but the casualties were enormous. The guard and the Helmites alike were something of a mess as they struggled to determine who to look to for command, until Commander Geran Vaisan finally turned up, bloodied and battered from his own fighting in Frontier's Rest and the East district. Under his command, guards and Helmites began to organize better, but everyone still seemed to look suspiciously at their fellows. It had been a hard blow, and a great betrayal.

All personnel and clergy within the city began to gather the dead and wounded, taking them to the same locations they had just filled the day before. The damage this time was far greater, however. Clerics work seemingly endlessly to try to bring back as many of the fallen as possible, but certainly not everyone is able to return. Some adventurers also linger to assist in the efforts, and to heal those who still live.

When the losses are finally tallied, everyone in the kingdom mourns:

107 knights and soldiers are unaccounted for, either killed or missing, presumed to have fled.
87 Helmites are unaccounted for, and it is difficult to tell how many of those were among the infiltrators, due to how they fought each other on both sides.
49 Civilians are dead.
Ministers Sorrel Mirriand and Harold Faranim are dead, caught while traveling about their districts.
The King is dead.

Soon after, public outcry begins to take hold against the Order of the Osprey. It turned out that at least seven knights of the Order had turned on their own and struck down innocent people, including the King. While the people had been expressing their anger regarding the King and their leaders, none of them had wanted this outcome. And the betrayal of the knights cut deep. The strength of their distrust gives Commander Geran Vaisan, as de facto leader of the kingdom in this time of martial law, no choice but to disband the Order. The various knights turn in their badges and uniforms and depart Southport. Some take up residence in Frontier's Rest and Ridgewood, where they can do so without being heckled.

Many throughout the kingdom wear black in mourning of the many deaths. The general consensus among the people is that this tragedy only further illustrates the ineptitude of the government as a whole. Their military had been infiltrated by some unknown enemy - and had presumably been infiltrated for some time now to have become so numerous. Very few speak ill of the late king, however. They had not been happy with him, but he was a man many still respected for all he had done before he was crowned, especially during the latest Horde War.

The people in Southport all but chase the government officials out of the city. They are welcomed into the Wave and Serpent, where the guild masters offer their aid to Commander Vaisan and the remaining ministers. Tucker and Minister Bouvier choose to depart for Ridgewood, to help assure the people there, as well.

It seems right now that the future of the government of Southport is quite uncertain. The people are terrified and angry. The military is battered. The leadership is sundered. And there was no heir to the throne...

Adventurers who aided in the defense of the city are told that they are invited to send a missive to Commander Vaisan with a request for a reward. If it is within his power, he will see it done. He insists it is the least he can do following the bravery they showed, which they surely did not have to do.

// Note about reward requests: This is an open invitation for characters who took part in the defense of the city to point to this post in a single DC request of their choice. It can be used to request anything that you could request normally through the request process, including DC items, summon reskins, spell widgets, bottled companions, etc. Rebuilds are excluded, because that doesn't really make sense. Make your request as normal and if it is something that the Commander is able to do (or find someone to do it at his order), then it will not require any RP beyond indicating that this is the reward your character requests IC. Mind, the Commander is a good-aligned NPC, so don't ask him for a zombie or something, unless your character would just do something like that. He won't fulfill requests like that, though. xD The DMs will let you know if it's feasible IC or not. You will not have to pay DCs for whatever it is you request, as I will cover the cost!

I have a list of all the characters involved, so only do this if you were there for this specific event, and only for the specific involved character!

*The former Dame Elaraliel was one of the knights wo returned her badge and uniform when the Order disbanded, though she had fought valiantly to bring order to the chaos and secure the body of king Fairchild.

She stuck around in civilian clothing afterwards for a while, making her rounds through the city to help the wounded, carry away the dead with her horse Falkor to Moribund and generally help where she could.

The former knight was hard to read due to her many years of training and self discipline, and while she did clearly not carrry her heart on her sleeve and mostly appeared calm and collected, her heavy set jaw and expression devoid of any much emotion at all clearly indicated the betrayal striking deep.

After helping all who needed help, she was not seen in public anymore for the time being. Though should anyone head that way out for a reason, she can be seen at the stables far out west at times.

While polite and helpful, she is however rather reserved and quiet when approached.*

After several visits to the respective areas by a traveller in black, a copies of the following notice can be found at districts of Southport, Frontier's Rest and Ridgewood.

"King is dead. Long live...?

Once again, realm currently holding name "Cetha" is experiencing a crisis. Once again, responsible officials are nowhere to be seen - fled or deceased. Once again, various parties are circling Commonwealth like vultures. And once again, as-of-yet unidentified forces conspire and infiltrate.

How many times history must repeat itself? Can something be done? What must be done?

There are no swift or easy solutions. Yet they will come with promises, offers, gifts or threats. They, true friends and false, glory hounds, opportunists, scoundrels, blackguards. Some are already here.

Would you prefer unaccountable nobles and bureaucrats, or someone you can both elect and recall from position of power? Do you really need a king rule you or another "hero" to save you?

Behind every word and action, seek interests of individuals - and the groups they represent. Consider where your own interests lie. Of your household, your neighborhood, your society. Short, medium and long term interests.

Rely on those you know with confidence, colleagues and friends. Pool together ideas, resources and expertise. Then contact other groups.

Reader, you may inquire - what of the author? Personally, I retain a measure of confidence that people of what was Cordor are capable of passing this cycle of crisis with poise and dignity, perhaps sufficient to earn a better future. There is little ][ can do to help, but if help you need - send a word to Ralten's Retreat.

An unsigned letter sits in the Gentlemen's Club, nailed to the board.

People,

How many times does this tragedy need to play out? How many times do your leaders need to make false promises? They promised you safety if you accepted a new monarch. You rebelled against this very idea nearly a decade ago. You drew a line in blood.

After you fought, bled, and died together in the killing field of Cape Slakh against Aminans and Helmites your king turned to the very same church of Helm that once supported Amn. He told you this would keep you safe.

This measure has not kept you safe. Your leaders have not kept you safe.

In 1383 you stood shoulder to shoulder with you when Amn brought Helmite mercenaries, Coweled Wizards and the Maztican Hordes to your doorstep. That day you held. That day we were the only line in old Cordor not to break. You pushed Amn into the sea.

Today you stand surrounded by weak men who promise you the world if you only kneel, but find yourself with nothing.

Will you continue to kneel?

The note is covered by another at the Gentleman's Club.

People of West Southport and all of Southport,

Ignore those that do not reside within Southport and are too cowardly to sign their notes. They only want to cause strife during these solemn and trying times. Trust that those of us that are actively living in the city and working for you the people of Southport. The West was chosen for the seat of the Cetha government for a reason, we are the backbone of this city. We have stood fast in the past and will stand fast in the future. There are opportunists that only want to take this time to cause division among the people. We need to stand firm and keep moving forward and not allow outside influences to tear us apart.

Long live Cetha,

A. Matheson; Minister of the West

The Emissary of The Shrine made their way to Cetha's many wounded districts. The Drow openly wore their Cetha badge signifying they were a trusted individual within the Kingdom. They brought clothing, tools, blankets, food, and toys as they paid visit to the people in need. The children who lost one or both of their parents in the recent attack, elderly who were now without caretakers. The Emissary spent hours visiting the homes and ruined corners of the West District following the riots and strife that recently swept the area. For now, the Emissary avoided the politics of the event, doing their best to ignore the anonymous postings and Street Criers calling for more action to be taken. Their attention went to the silent voices, the wounded and despaired who only wished to make it through these dark times. Once their supplies were depleted for the day, the Emissary quietly made their way out to Frontiers Rest and headed north.

Soon enough, Triss'vyr is joined by faces familiar to the poorer folk anf children of the city - Jhul'ae and Alaundoril have, it seems, not forgotten their promises.

Food (and especially sweets for the littles) is handed out freely, and Alaundoril takes stock of any building needs that the folk might have. Toddling with them is a tiny drowling, not yet two years old, and more often than not in a wrap at her mother's front or carried in her father's arms. She is simply introduced as "May", and the children seem welcome to spend time, play, and relax around the parents and the Emissary.

- Orogs
- Ogrillons
- Lizardfolk
- Goblinoids

These individuals will be allowed once again into our walls and establishments as long as they obey the laws put forth and enforced by the guards and military.

Signed Sir Geran Vaisan
He is then seen leaving with a small cadre of loyal guards for the frontier and Knight's Hallow and returning in the night with those guards stationed at Knight's Hallow, those guards are now restationed about Frontier's rest and Southport.

*Slowly after this announcement, the more prominent people, nobles/wealthy folk, loyalists to the kingdom, most (former) Ministers and clerks seem to display disagreements with both the announcement but also something more going on behind it.

And while some are trying to be vocal about it, Most seem to keep back behind closed doors and barely being seen in public any more. There even some rumors spreading of a few fleeing the city north. Some guards are allot more stern and less lenient aswell now, especially towards the (former) ministers/loyalists, bureaucrats and wealthy/nobles*

The exception to this seems to be Minsters Tristana and Matheson who are a lot more active and public now, advocating open trade and tolerance of the old days. Frontier seems fairly unaffected, and Griff just keeps his bar and aiding the locals as he always does.*

*Word starts to spread that last night southport has not been as quiet as normal.

Late at night the SotS conducted mass raids across the city, lifting many people from their bed, and arresting hundreds, taking them to the former royal halls. A lot of papers and goods are confiscated aswell, though it seems most of the goods are either of less reputable origins or marked as cetha property, giving the idea that the SotS are not randomly plundering.

While most seem to be without bloodshed or overly need of force, there is a notable exception, where during a raid suddenly a fight broke out and took to the street. It seems that a dozen or so former guards and knights loyal to the kingdom where in hiding, and during a raid decided to resist. The ensuing fight resulted in the death and injury of some of the SotS, and a swift putdown of the "traitors" With most dead, and a few subdued and arrested.

The following morning, the overly large amount of those arrested in the mass raid across the city are released, Seemingly not been treated badly and where only questioned, when released they where given papers to show they are clear and clean, of any accusations of traitorous behavior or criminality. It seems nearly all of those arrested where in some capacity working for the government, now or in the past.

However, some do not return, and petitions for information are refused, and simply told to wait. Those of the "traitors" that survived the fight are of course not released either, however, the bodies of the dead of both SotS and opposing are given the same respect and funeral rights, As any guard would.

Quickly the night is dubbed, night of empty beds. People are scared, and people are unsure what will follow. The Guards seem to try and reasure the locals this was needed to root out traitors and deserters, and a unfortunate but necessity to swiftly accomplish this. those with noting to hide, have noting to fear, The swords will protect them.

An Announcment is given then Commander Jack Grond huimself will adress the city later today*

MARTIAL LAW DECLARED IN SOUTHPORT
Ridgewood and Knights Hallow Cast into Uncertainty

by Clee the Scrivener

The mood was tense early yesterday morning. A crowd gathered in front of a new government building in east Southport, though empty and half-built as it was. A fitting metaphor for our city on the mend. Commander Jack Grond stepped from the double doors.

"The Swords of the South have taken over Southport, and by default the supposed 'Kingdom of Cetha'."

He spoke in a matter-of-fact tone, claiming the Swords to be comprised mainly of former guards, parents, and children of the former city of Cordor and current city of Southport.

"We simply came to the conclusion that this city has suffered years of mismanagement, failed governments, over-influential and selfish nobles, and even royalties. All the while we, its real protectors, had to stand by and watch politicians ruin more and more while we were powerless; often even tossed aside. But this ends now, we have taken over and we will guide the city back to tolerance, trade, and a safe place for all."

Grond continued by declaring that any in Southport must follow its laws or feel the sword. Citing the previous administration allegedly destroying documents, Commander Grond is instituting the following new policies:
  • Any previous political agreements, limitations, and sanctions are now null and void. These can be appealed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Any previous individual and group banishments are to be reevaluated, but not voided directly.
  • No foreign officials are granted special permissions or authority by default; any foreign entities in uniform are considered on official business and must declare themselves to an officer of lieutenant or higher.
  • All are required to sheathe weaponry upon entry; refusing can be seen as an act of aggression.
Furthermore, Commander Grond detailed the fate of other settlements within the former Kingdom of Cetha:
  • Focus will always be on the city of Southport, itself. Other settlements will be secondary.
  • Frontier's Rest will remain under Southport's protection and resources. Frontier's Rest and the Wave and Serpent Guild will continue to be governed by Mister Griff Arneman, as before.
  • Ridgewood is expected to "fall in line". It is uncertain if it refuses to do so. Until then, resources to the mountain town are halted.
  • Knight's Hallow is no longer recognized under Cetha; all authority and claims to the land are void.
Commander Grond alleged that during the search for alleged traitors and deserters, the Swords of the South stumbled upon a resistance hideout. In the ensuing battle, 7 members of the Swords were killed, with another unknown number injured. Citing the incident, Grond declared that he was placing Cetha under Martial Law.

"All non-military government positions are dissolved, all military personnel is reevaluated and reassigned. All officials of the Kingdom of Cetha's regime are to report for reevaluation if they have not already. Failure will result in repercussions."

Commander Grond ended with the final word:

"Behave or feel the sword."

This event comes after a tumultuous week of ordinary citizens of Southport being dragged from their homes and places of work and detained for questioning, myself included. For all intents and purposes, the former Office of the Cabinet in West Southport has been made a prison.

One adventurer present for the speech expressed concern over the potential that the new regime may make use of capital punishment. A spokesperson for the regime denied the use of any form of death penalty, but mentioned that they will "adhere to the laws on the matter". Lucien, the tall human adventurer of stout stature spoke afterwards,

"Well martial law, in my opinion, you break the law.. you die."

Mister Lucien admitted he had never been in a town under martial law until now, but it speaks to a greater fear that has begun to grip the city of Southport.

I spoke with two further delegations, each representing very different places politically; Obsidian Isle and The Dale. Of Obsidian Isle, Aithne the High Councillor, Yashiera Ebonhand the Commander of the Guard, and Xy'glythar a trusted friend to the Obsidian Isle.

Mr. Xy'glythar was, in particular, incensed by the callous tone with which Commander Grond dismissed Knight's Hallow,

"...it was founded on familiar principles and its residents did their best to maintain them... I do not believe that the gentleman with golden accents on his tabard has the right to call it 'ridiculous stupid'."

Ms. Ebonhand reflected on the format of the Commander's announcements,

"...there's always nearly an entire unit of guards surrounding him. He's a former Law Knight of Cordor, so it is to be expected everything about his presentation screams military occupation."

Even so, Ms. Aithne expressed a degree of optimism about the reset of relations,

"The current changes lead us to a fresh start. King Fairchild had no interest in developing relations, despite us being a relatively close neighbor... Not many outside seem to perceive we are moving on from Tarkuul."

Meanwhile, sentiment in the nearby town of The Dale was more skeptical. Among those interviewed were Rosary Doodlekins and Deanic Hadel of the Dale council and General Wilfire of its military.

When asked about the reaction to the "resetting" of relations, Ms. Doodlekins was unsurprised,

"I don't think I'm a stranger to seeing leadership changes in one place or another, and that always comes with an expectation any past relationship needs to be rebuilt with the new leadership."

Mr. Hadel believed the announced changes were a move that could further isolate Southport,

"... if they renege on all obligations, they cannot count on anyone else either... Not exactly an environment you expect people to feel safe in, or say what they think."

"Sounds like a way to rule people with fear." Ms. Rosary added.

Mr. Wilfire declined to comment.

In the end, Southport is my home. Her people deserve to be treated with respect and are due every opportunity to reach for happiness and prosperity. We are accustomed to change. We are, unfortunately, desensitized to hardship. But it doesn't mean that we have to stand idly by while the world changes around us. If this new regime makes good on its promise to no longer allow anyone to "walk over us or the city," perhaps it will be for the better. But we, as citizens of this broken-but-steadfast city, must examine the costs associated. If this new regime is to be for the betterment of its people, we must hold it accountable. We cannot allow ourselves to be ruled by fear. And I, for one will not.

Editor's note: a few addendums have been included for clarity; one around foreign dignitaries, one around the death penalty, and one regarding Frontier's Rest's leadership.

*It quickly becomes clear that the officers of the SotS instruct any and all guards to let the papers go free about, and even to protect people spreading it, if needed. and assure the locals, that while slander or pushing to cause harm wont be tolerated, the press wont be halted, infact they appreciate the honest tone of this release.

There is however a statement given for clarification on a few things, and a letter send to miss Clee requesting a reprint to reflect the clarifications, even offering compensation if needed.*

"No foreign officials are granted special permissions or authority by default; any on official business are required to wear uniforms declaring themselves as such and report to an officer of lieutenant or higher."

Officials are not required to wear a uniform (though when on official business, this is expected still as a respectable position, just not a hard rule). The main current rule on this matter is that foreign officials that ARE wearing their uniforms (even when visiting for unofficial reasons) are to declare themselves. If they chose to arrive in offduty clothing, there is no need. This is so we can keep track of uniformed individuals, incase issues arise, and to be aware of (open) officials in our city. Note, wearing a uniform also means we will see any of your act as an act in name of what you represent.

"Frontier's Rest will remain under Southport's protection and resources, with the exception of the Wave and Serpent guild which will be governed independently by its owners."

Frontiers rest as awhole (not just the guild hall) is governed in our name, by Mister Armemen and the Guild Leadership, As they see fit, within our boundaries of law and overseeing authority (And protection/resources).

We also like to re-affirm the following two points:
-There have been no added death penalties to the laws, and no public or private execution's are done/planned.
-Reporting voltentarly as required for evaluation or re-assessment, will be respected and will ensure your safety. This is provided you harbor no ill intend towards the city.

People within the city of Southport are heard murmuring among themselves about being a feeling of an excessive tiredness. Seems most of these complaints have been within the Central district, but have been reported in all areas of the city and into Frontier's Rest.

Helmites in the Central District mobilized late in the evening today, responding to an explosion and fire in one of the alleys. With adventurer help, they were able to contain the fire and put it out quickly, but it seems a number of victims had been caught in the blast - if the bodies retrieved from the site were anything to go by. The Helmites reassure the citizens that the matter is handled and that there is no further expectation of fires or explosions.

A large poster is hammered on most notice boards and the gates of Southport and Frontier's Rest. Each poster has at all times a guard stationed in proximity. A copy is sent to the Shrine of Eilistraee and the Dale council.
ProclamationThe following individuals are hereby banned from Southport and Frontier's Rest:
  • ~ Wilfire Strongfeet (General of the Dale militant forces)
~ Rosary Doodlekins (Councilor of the Dale)
~ T'rissvyr Tinnerai d'Gelvefora (Emissary of the Shrine of Eilistraee)
Due to the following actions:
  • ~ Failure to declare themselves.
~ Failure to inform Southport officials of dangers within city grounds.
~ Failure to prevent loss of life.
    ~ Endangering the city.
~ Enacting and impersonation of authority over our lands. (even wearing uniforms of other places)
~ Performing an unauthorized raid in our city.
~ Instigating violence on the streets.
~ Refusal to immediately abide by and adhere to commands made by law enforcement officials. (Helmites are still in service and sanctioned guards of Southport)
~ Leaving us to deal with your created mess by not offering help, cleanup, or payments for damages caused by the unauthorized raid.
~ Attempted Murder of a local resident. (Even if you claim they are an unholy abomination, we have no proof of such other than a pile of burnt corpses, which you left behind.)
    ~ Destruction of property.
We take in consideration the claims of routing a vampire nest, as well as past deeds, but we cannot tolerate actions of unsanctioned adventurers and officials of other settlements descending upon our city, refusing to abide by local law enforcement, refusing to report incidents, and then fleeing the scene as soon as possible by your own whims. Our reports say you failed in your task to murder the citizen you sought (the one you claim is a vampire). Due to all the above, a warehouse destroyed, and surrounding buildings in need of inspection and repairs, as well as the city efforts, we have come to our lawful conclusion.

For these actions, while being (uniformed) officials of other towns, and past refusal to cooperate, we see no other option then to banish you for the period of one month starting today. Failure to adhere to the banishment may result in diplomatic incidents, incarceration, and/or permanent banishment. Be warned, we will not tolerate attempts to walk over us and our authority.

Your banishment and permanent mark in our records can be lifted if on an individual basis if you:
  • ~ Deliver a public apology
~ Deliver a full report of what transpired from your perspective, as well as background information which led to the unauthorized raid
Further, the group as a whole must deliver:
  • ~ Payment for damages in the form of public service or a monetary compensation of 10,000,000 Amian gold coins. We do not care how you divide this sum amongst the three of you.

On a positive note, we would like to praise Duchess Sali Aphaeleon for her actions during the incident. Not only did she adhere to the uniform/declaration rule, her first reaction when walking into the incident was to call for aid and to inform the guards. Let her be an example for other officials traversing our city.

Another proclamation is made public, placed most prominently in Ridgewood, but also sent in stacks to Southport and Frontier's Rest. Copies also arrive in all the settlements tied to the Beacon Alliance to ensure all defensive allies are aware of these happenings.

Proclamation of Condemnation
Let It be Known

The people of Ridgewood hereby publicly condemn the actions of the militant usurpers known as the Swords of the South. Officials and citizens who have only ever sought to bring peace to our beloved homes cannot abide by the ruthless tactics employed by the self-appointed despot Jack Grond. The Swords of the South have turned to violence and authoritarianism, subjecting Southport and Frontier's Rest to a hard, militant rule whether they wanted it or not. Such is inexcusable, and treads on the freedoms of those who have suffered through decades of corruption as it is. The honeyed words of the Swords promising that no harm will come to those who bend the knee fail to acknowledge that violence is swift to those who resist.

Despite their claims that they do not execute those who stand against them, at least 22 innocent individuals have been killed in this forced change of regime, with countless more injured. Hiding behind the semantics of the word "execution" is clear duplicity, as this violence did not have to happen at all - and would not have happened if Jack Grond had taken more reasonable steps in his efforts. But it seems Grond cares not for allaying the fears of those he has targeted. He sees only absolute control. His men have actively murdered those who did not prostrate themselves before his demands, and he has lost some of his own when those innocents sought to protect themselves. Jack Grond and his lackeys have taken a barbaric approach to prompting change, which has directly caused bloodshed and death.

We openly invite those who do not wish to languish under this forced rule to leave and seek refuge with Ridgewood - ostensibly as it is your right under Grond's terms. If you are fearful of the ramifications of leaving or showing any resistance to the Swords of the South despite their "reassurances", then we urge you to remain. We do not wish for even more bloodshed, and uncertainty during this time could very well lead to more of it.

Ridgewood hereby declares Secession from the Kingdom of Cetha. We will have no part in the travesty brought on by violent usurpers. Ridgewood acknowledges that change was necessary following the death of King Adam and the events which led to it. We however will not choose fear and oppression as our weapons against the failures of the past. That the innocent people of Cetha have been forced to endure violence, incarceration, terror, injury, and death during this military seizure is inexcusable. They rule through fear. They keep order through fear. This welcomes the darkest hearts to take root, if they have not already. We pray that Jack Grond will come to see this and will change his methods for the sake of the innocent people he claims to desire to protect. We do not believe that personal freedom should be infringed in the pursuit of collective safety. Safety without personal security is only a sloppy bandage to a festering wound.

As of this notice, on the fourteenth day of Eleasis, 1391 DR, Geran Vaisan has taken the role of interim Commander of the Ridgewood Militia. All Ridgewood military personnel have been transitioned into this new structure. The former Minister of Ridgewood under Cetha's rule, Victoria Bouvier, has been selected as interim Mayor of Ridgewood. Full elections for leadership personnel will commence within the month. All friends, citizens, and allies of Ridgewood are welcomed to participate, with the understanding that citizenship is required and will be facilitated through the election process.

We choose to move forward peacefully and we do not desire further conflict. But we fully wield our right to express our sorrow, anger, and extreme disappointment for the actions of the Swords of the South.

*another proclamation is made in Frontier's Rest and the Wave and Serpent, it is also sent to the three individuals within*

Proclamation
Let it be known, that Frontier's Rest and the Wave and Serpant revokes the banishment of the individuals known as

~ Wilfire Strongfeet (General of the Dale militant forces)
~ Rosary Doodlekins (Councilor of the Dale)
~ T'rissvyr Tinnerai d'Gelvefora (Emissary of the Shrine of Eilistraee)

from Frontier's rest.

The incident did not happen in Frontier's Rest and this banishment was not sanctioned by us and is herby nullified for Frontier's Rest.

Just for clearification, this -only- nullifies the banishment from Frontier's rest and the Wave and Serpent 'not' from the Southport City districts.

Furthermore, after discussing the matter with the Swords of the South, we also hereby declare independence from the Kingdom of Cetha and are now our own governed town, now known as Traveller's Rest. This independence was sanctioned by the swords of the south and made in mutual agreement

Aithne the Red can't help but be amused by the recent proclamations.

"Such pathetic weakness. This place can't seem to help but constantly fall apart. Oh, and how swiftly the punishment became a non-punishment. These lowly Amians can easily work around Southport, could care less if Southport burns and its people die, for long as they get to gargle down on the Wave and play the hero all day."

She copies down the recent proclamations and moves along.

As of yet no public response is given to the previous proclamations, but troops and materials are seen being recalled from Travelers rest. A Public Apology
I wish to publically apologize for my mishandling of the events that transpired on the Twelfth of Eleasis, 1391. My failure to properly report to the authority of Cetha once the situation turned disastrous is a regretful lesson that I have learned and will rectify in future dealings with the City should I be allowed.

To address the listed proclamations:

  • ~ Failure to declare themselves.
I will moving forward properly introduce and declare myself as Emissary of the Shrine in my future dealings within the City.

~ Failure to inform Southport officials of dangers within city grounds.
I deeply regret not informing the proper city authority of our immediate findings following the attack from the Shadow Creatures that attacked us within the hostel. The event transpired so quickly and was witnessed by other city Guards as we had a public feast with the local clinic operator, Phillipe Reid.

~ Failure to prevent loss of life.
I still carry the burden of this sorrow. Witnessing the illusion of the Clinic fade away into a warehouse of slaughter where these victims were drained of their blood and butchered still haunts me even as I write this recollection. The Warehouse was trapped with alarm spells and triggered to drop alchemist fire throughout the Warehouse. My group understood there were innocent people within that building in our conversations outside it with Phillipe Reid. When he fled the scene of the Shadow Creatures' attack, we had little time and hurried to attempt to prevent harm to them. We were too late. They were slaughtered before we ever came to the city that day.

    ~ Endangering the city.
This was never our intention, we had a public meeting with a resident we suspected to be in connection to the Vampire threat that has affected both the island and the city. We were attacked in an open and public space by extra-planar beings from the Shadow Plane. I only wish that I could have stopped their attack sooner from within the hostel. Seeing that we are now dealing with Planar creatures, I can offer to provide Dimensional Anchor Wands for those capable of using them to aid in hindering the creature's abilities to shift about through the plane.

~ Enacting and impersonation of authority over our lands. (even wearing uniforms of other places)
I do not personally understand how I did this. I wore normal clothing and held no means of authority over your lands. If my demeanor suggested otherwise, I will listen to the reasoning and work towards correcting that.

~ Performing an unauthorized raid in our city.
This, in my opinion, is Hyperbole. No raid was performed on the city. We were attacked during a public meeting in an open and guarded space. I apologize that I was unable to properly seal away the planar shadow creatures promptly during the chaos of the attack. I will strive to handle such attacks better or get more of the city officials there sooner.

~ Instigating violence on the streets.
No violence occurred on the streets. The only violent actions had occurred within the well-guarded and public hostel where we were attacked by Shadow Creatures.

~ Refusal to immediately abide by and adhere to commands made by law enforcement officials. (Helmites are still in service and sanctioned guards of Southport)
When the Helmite Guards arrived at the scene of the Warehouse fire, I had been compromised by a Shadow Creature entering my body and stealing a portion of my life force. I was very much not in my best mindset as I was left shivering and hollow as my life force was stolen from me. I stood in place until the Helmite Guards excused our group. I apologize I am not able to remember better details at that exact moment. I was unable to do much.

~ Leaving us to deal with your created mess by not offering help, clean up, or payments for damages caused by the unauthorized raid.
I am deeply sorry for this, had I not been compromised by the Shadow Creature I would have made my intentions to aid more evident as I have shown the city many times in the past with the Shrines food drives and donations of clothing and tools following the attacks on the Kingdom. I very much intended to speak with the officials on a way to help the following days when I recovered, however, I was banned immediately the following day.

~ Attempted Murder of a local resident. (Even if you claim they are an unholy abomination, we have no proof of such other than a pile of burnt corpses, which you left behind.)
We had a meeting with the resident Philippe Reid, again in a public and guarded space. We made no such attempts to murder anyone. We were attacked by Shadow Creatures in the public and guarded hostel. If this individual indeed does prove to be a Vampiric unholy abomination with undeniable proof, I as a Priestess of the Dark Maiden share the duty to see that they are removed from our world of the living. I will see that such found proof is delivered to the city officials.

    ~ Destruction of property.
I apologize once again for the loss of the property in this situation. I can offer you the information that this warehouse was disguised as a clinic under illusion magics and trapped to be burned down utilizing alchemists fire. The destruction of this warehouse was planned outside of our involvement. Nonetheless, I will aid as I can in restorations to the best of my ability.

All considered above. I apologize for my involvement in what has been deemed as wrongdoings within your city. My mishandling of the situation as the Emissary of the Shrine is my own fault. Despite any of my disagreements with the proclamations, I felt it is best to apologize and share the event from my own perspective as it took place. So much occurred in a matter of minutes and if I am to be Emissary I need to improve in my ability to react in such dire situations that satisfy the City's rules and requests for cooperation in any and all matters within the city. Should I be allowed to return to the city I can provide more detailed background on the matter that lead to the visit to Philippe Reid. I feel such should not be placed publically unless, of course, you request such to be. It is very important to me that I may still aid the less fortunate, homeless, ill, young, and old within the city through the Shrine's continued charity drives for the City. I strive to make right by the city so that these individuals do not lose hope. Please consider them and allow my return to the City so that I can continue to provide assistance and aid. Please do not let this unfortunate circumstance destroy our past work together. Thank you for your time and attention.

Various proclamations are send out and publicly displayed
Proclamation 1 (also send to all settlements in the region)
On 18th Eleasis 1391 DR The Kingdom of Cetha has been dissolved.

Let this not be a day of sorrow but joy to see the future ahead. With Ridgewoods unfortunate Secession, and the mutual agreed terms to Traveller's Rest independents, The Swords of the South will will fully focus on Southport only. We have all sworn a oath to protect the city, its people and its future of tolerance and trade.

While we find it deeply troubling how loyalists to the past regime try to paint us in a bad light, despite their men instigating violence, we wish them well on their endeavors in Ridgewood, and pledge no aggressive actions will be taken on their town, nor on any person wishing to join them. Alternatively we hope that Geran and his men, will allow any of Ridgewood, especially but not exclusive (former) military, Who wish to leave and report to Southport.

We also like to reaffirm we welcome officials of any town, city or group for negotiations on matters they wish to discuses.

Commander Jack Grond

Proclamation 2
In regards to the banishment of of the following indivituals:
  • ~ Wilfire Strongfeet (General of the Dale militant forces)
~ Rosary Doodlekins (Councilor of the Dale)
~ T'rissvyr Tinnerai d'Gelvefora (Emissary of the Shrine of Eilistraee)
The fine and restitution of damages has been pledged to be payed by a benefactor, with approval of at least one of the trio. Unless this is failed to finalize, will be considered sufficient.
Emissary T'rissvyr Tinnerai d'Gelvefora has made sufficient amends and met our demands for purging of his record. Let it be known as soon as the last formalities are finalized, He/She will be reinstated as a valued person we welcome to our city.

We deeply regret not hearing a single word or contact from the remaining two, other then mockery of our laws, order and punishment. We strongly hope they come to their senses, and not let it strain further relations, as their actions are a reflection The Dale.

As a sign of trust, acceptance of services rendered and for meetings held with various individuals, we decided to not persecutor any other people involved in the events of 13th Eleasis 1391 DR regarding the warehouse and vampiric. With the notable exception of one "Phillipe Reid" and any of his minions.
