Kohlingen Green & Fort Cystana "Do Solemnly Swear...

Post by Everblurred »

...that they are up to - only - good?- :like:

With the ritualistic grieving protocols now properly respected and completed, aside from the grand funeral which was sure to be an event for both of the major political pieces of Kohilngen, the two aforementioned establishments both announced various other installments to become readily available for view soon- and/or with possibly obvious signs of near-inhabitance. Others, on the other hand, seemed too dilapidated to completely have at their previous grandeur. Much of the Kohilngen sections known once as the Holy City, or the Greengardens District and the Mysterious Radiant Ones- had firstly been so devastated by rifts left open to the Planes of Negative and Positive Energy, and followed with the rampant destruction of a pyroclastic, that they were irreparable as they once were. Twas sad, but 'twas still life.

The Rebellion or something had certainly fomented the fierce dedication and homey atmosphere that Kohlingen recreated to live within its ruin. This didn't mean green things didn't begin to grow and flower and that rebuilding was unfeasible in every way, it merely meant that repurposing might be the preferred choice if one were to keep the history of the locale. Some walls seemed melty with energy's effects, some strange random effects on the fauna were dotting the landscape now. Was that a Moonflower? Here, in the flowering seat of the old court?

A manor that once house an historic refugee from Wars in Time was overgrown, even, with only the ghosts leaving markings on the walls as to the other duchies that had passed through these hallowed hills.

Hills! Not overrun by undead, that old Manor that was scary provided a criss-crossed stratification of farming that Chauntea's faithful had utilized with superb utilitarian reproduction in mind. Whatever they had won, they had won hard, so they were going to make it work and by Gods it was- there were perhaps a new willingness in the air of even the old, conservative citizens. Times were ripe for trying something new, feeling young again, dancing out by the old Feylake.. did she ever come sing for them anymore?

New stands, new grocers, new hammers, new bands- it seemed to be picking up in this now-tarnished, glimmering city of Defenders turned Triadics turned Mages turned Platinums. Not that anyone could remember all the fabled histories of the land, there were still people here dedicated to the rebuilding and making new memories here. Theirs. Because, it was still Kohlingen.

Now they just looked at you a little funnier. Don't cause any trouble. Ooh. Was that a Moonflower?

As the young Duke walked around his domain - his responsibility - he felt and thought many things.

The Greengarden was steadily rebuilding, and more and more of his people had proper houses again. There was a store again, a baker, and a fishery. The trees, plants, and wildlife had returned quickly - no doubt a blessing from the Great Mother. Crops were growing, and the first real harvest would start any day now. Things were looking better every day, and this made him quite pleased. With patience and dedication, Kohlingen would become a better place than Cystana. More humble and faithful. More true.

He felt a great deal of happiness and a great deal of guilt at seeing his old family home restored. Too many had lost everything in the fall, and would never see it restored. He thanked the gods for their blessings, but would rather they had not come at such cost. As he walked around what was once the inner city, he felt sadness and disappointment. There had always been the hope that some of it could be rebuild. But as more buildings collapsed, and the true extent of the damage became clear, there was nothing left to do but tear it all down. Better to clear space for something new, he supposed. Still, he always wanted to rebuild the Mayfields. The best tavern in Amia deserved as much.

Further east came further uncertainty. The keep was a mess. Damaged in the battle, and torn apart by giant roots. He prayed that it could be restored at least somewhat. It wasn't just a strategic fortress guarding this side of the kingdom, it was the most enduring and visible legacy of the Kohlingen people. Cystana hungered for stone, and it had already been fed much of what could be recovered from the old city. Could he stop that beast from devouring the keep as well?

The paladin of Red Knight continued his duties around, even if he hasn't taken a major part in the latest rituals and celeberations he had kep his watch on the borders. His regular patrolls only interrupted for trainning with the rest of the men and women of the western skirts, reinforcing the security and planning new routes.

With all the work coming and going in Kohlingen itself he made sure to be available to help those around, being by just physically helping around or to guide them should his advice be looked for. Or sometimes just to be there and talk with the rest of the people around.

At night, when the rest of the camp sets to a well earned rest, Parvarion sits on his camp... analyzing the map that he carries around that shows the land of Kohlingen and it's surroundings, moving his usualy wooden pieces and planning....

The keep hadn't only been damaged by roots in battle. It had been almost literally melted by the negative energy and positive energy pouring in through multiple magically-powered
superimposed
and persistent gateways during that pyrobattling and rootifying destruction of epic, draconic proportions beyond most mortal ken.

The Keep, while capable of withholding one wall stubbornly (and brokenly) arched towards the sky for the memorials of their brave citizenry, was a bastion of bygone days. If it was to be restored, it would take much longer than a simple rebuilding. The foundation was most likely cracked and melted underneath that much pressure. Any architect would tell you, especially after the high demand in such services post-turtle and post-Moonwell. I mean, even post-Winya. You'll want to be SURE, sir.

..was Wiltun the only place still standing as it was..? Gods. They would survive everything. The inside of the Kohlinger's melting Keep had already been gutted and taken to Cystana, though; well, whatever the Duke and other (seditious?) personnel didn't try to hide from authorities, at least.

------------------------
Ah, but, this wasn't the place for that- and people didn't seem to be enjoying Philbert's
bardic tone.
Cantomantic
art practices or not, the bard and the announcers had much less fanfare going on lately.

------------------------

Various announcements about city business were revealed to the greater public:
  • Winya was revealed to be heavily invested in the new kingdom's framework but openly and stubbornly neutral in some political affair.
  • A Commission was put up and messed with and taken down (Re: Winya)
  • Moonpier seemed to have sent out feelers about all of their interests in rebuilding the shipyard/s of Amia. Confluence?!
  • Construction Zone open for feedback- now that the kingdom's government details shifted, even a treaty signed? Guest quarters maybe?
  • Had anyone heard anything about that Obsidian Isle place where the Tarkuul Remnants ended up..?

-----------------------

Regardless, while some of Old Kohl was workable- some was not- was the first obvious takeaway. The second, that the Council and/or Lord Mortimer must be planning something to be so quiet. Or be on guard. Had something else attacked the kingdom besides the rebellion/s? (Maybe there's going to be even more of those things! Siamorphe help us.)

Maybe she would send an :angelic-green: ?

*a certain elven ambassador lets out a slight chuckle on hearing the announcements on one of his visits, shakes his head, and making a note in his books. And quickly goes on to his various meetings around the kingdom, which does have increased lately.

Besides his many official and unofficial meetings, he does take extra time to visit any elven residence that happen to live in the kingdom to see how they are and see if they require aid. Also he makes sure to have time available if any officials want to meet (bot for official and social meetings)*

//to clarify the commission was only taken down on lands that are within the boarders of winya, all others where left alone (by me)

The Council of Kohlingen finally broke its uneasy public silence. It had nothing to do with duchal politics or war, at all.

The Council Has Been Listening; Yes, to You! Freedom For All.

It was: A Poster :!:

And a guideline accompanying:
Take a small piece of paper.

Take a writing utensil unless you have one.
Dip it in the proffered inkpad.

Take a small piece of parchment. Cast Your Vote.Any and All.
Kohlingen Hears You. Kohlingen Sees You. Cystana's New Guild Is You.

We Look Forward to Welcoming You to the next Adventuring Guild of Kohlingen.
