Re: Badly explain your job
I decipher the unholy tenets of the Badly Written Instructions authored by the Order of Unfun and Lameness whose Tower of Pointlessness looms ominously beneath an endlessly raging thunderstorm a hundred leagues from my seedy dungeon. I drag unwilling subjects to my dungeon under pain of impoverishme...

Does it check for party members in the same area or party members server wide? As far as I know, the spawn size is still based on the party member count server wide.

Re: The Team Comings and Goings
I'm stepping down as a dev. Life has been hectic since my daughter was born and I want to save my Sundays for family time. I'll be there to finalize the warlock update when the back-end is sorted for it and if the team still wants me to do it - sorry it's taking so long but it's not up to me. I migh...

Re: A test run, player help needed.
These kind of threads pop up regularly - yearly? - seeking to identify the something that should change to attract more players/rekindle activity. And inevitably, someone brings up a particular feature, policy, or content (the request system, the pvp rules, favoritism,... ) which prompts the entire...

... No good comes of putting staff on a pedestal like that, Opustus. They are not billionaires among peasants. Sorry, I was a bit unclear with my intention. Think of it like this: Proposition 1: DCs are almost always less valuable than real money, unless there's some billionaire playing who has no ...

Re: A test run, player help needed.
Yeah, good points der, Jes. Maybe by "exceedingly silly" I meant cases like, I dunno, a lawful good demon, but I guess it just makes more sense to make demons only evil and impose similar limitations to other like cases (a hypothetical case where demons would be a selectable race; I haven'...

Re: A test run, player help needed.
I agree with Derp's analysis and the proposed fix. I think the chance of players making some silly characters is a far lesser problem than the underlying issue of trust and distrust about the request process, and I think it's also correct not to identify it as a problem with the player base but ulti...

A great poast, Dove! Despite the recent conflict, I don't think Amia as a PW is especially prone to it or that this time around has been especially bad. Amia has always had conflicts like this, and so have other servers. I don't mean to gloss over the hurt that people have endured, I empathise with ...

Thanks for wishing well. I wish you all the best, too. Thank you for saying that Christ loves me whether I believe or not, as I think that's a healthy and kind attitude for Christ and his believers to have. I love my fellow humans despite their religious beliefs too, and think this is a principle th...

Quarterstaff is just a normie large weapon in NWN, there hasn't been a change to make it double-sided in Amia. Riiight?

Speaking from a strictly mechanical viewpoint, they can be monkeygripped same as other weapons. Dunno if DMs have some RPly/balance-y considerations about this though.

As someone who is fairly noobish with NWN code and has now worked roughly 20+ hours with Amia code both inside and outside of Rider, it really facilitates learning too. Re: Overarching Server Story
There could be some wild and disturbing encroachment of antimagic zones to Amia that the players could investigate and different courses of action could either lead to their dispelling or permanence etc. so it wouldn't be an abrupt stoppage of all magic everywhere. (This said just to spitball and be...

Re: Peerage Class
You get the bonuses for Vassal from Persuade rank, yus. For me having a feat or skill tax without any mechanical usefulness always starts this inner dialogue: "Wowee, Peerage is sure a cool class. I can play a noble and have my own vassal, how cool is that?" "For that we require you t...

Re: Peerage Class
That's a good point! I will bring it up. I think someone at one point suggested that Epic Reputation would be a prereq, which is a silly feat that does absolutely nothing but I guess the name matches the class in spirit? I think the epic character requirement would be a better solution. I think that...

Re: Peerage Class
We've discussed this and it's still undecided, though I sense an agreement to opening it. The current version of Peerage is abusable as hell on low levels, so there seems to be an agreement that there should be a better level progression for the Vassal, which isn't a big undertaking but the Devs are...

Yup, they copy the outfit, no matter the base armour. You just have to re-do that on resummoning the Vassal, a bit of a hassle but fortunately it sticks around unless, gods forbid, the silly thing should die.

Yeah I wonder, how do Galenson and Elorathrall really think that the number of areas affects where players spend their time or how they interact with other individual characters and factions? Do people, when given the leeway, cramp themselves into distant crannies and nooks away from the rest of the...

Meh, gobb's reply is such lame. To Gers, I like the idea of just buffing existing necro spells. PM is really boring to play because you only have Neg Energy Burst, Finger of Death, Horrid Wilt, and Banshee to spam for offensive spells. I'd definitely target spells that aren't in the current spell ro...

I've used it. It's really good in some respects, like that you can download a whole preset campaign module there to play, but awful in others, mainly the infernal lagginess of it.

The wee nerf to melee PM Just by looking at the numbers, I suggest PM is due for a wee nerf at least while at it. As it's a public forum, the PM players are sure to object but I'll try to convince you too, you bastards. Make the PM AC bonus Dodge instead of "other". The reason is that PMs...
